Two-year olds learn through their own experiences. They like to imitate others, try things out and test their limits. They need a safe and creative classroom. Active two-year olds thrive in a reliable framework of routines, choices and supportive adults.

At Bridges CEC, you will find that:

  • Adults converse with children one-on-one, naming objects, events and feelings to help children learn new words.
  • Adults watch to see what a child is trying to do and provide the necessary support to help the child accomplish the task.
  • Children’s preferences for familiar people and objects are respected.
  • When children fight over the same toy or test their limits by saying, “NO!” caregivers patiently redirect them.
  • Children play indoors and out, alone and alongside other children.
  • Stories, songs, finger-plays and creative expression with art materials are a frequent part of the day’s activities.
  • Schedules are predictable, but flexible.
  • Picture books and toys are accessible on open shelves.
  • Parents and staff talk every day, sharing important information about the child.
